Vanilla 1.12 uses old addons that the modern Classic and retail versions cannot run. These are the ones players ask for most, grouped by what they do. All of these work on 1.12.
Where to get them
Stonetavern hosts a searchable addon browser at stonetavern.app/addons, with 1.12 versions packaged for our client. You can also get them from the usual community mirrors. Whatever the source, the install is the same.
How to install
- Close the game.
- Unzip the addon. You get a folder, for example
pfQuest. - Put that folder in
<your Stonetavern folder>/Interface/AddOns/. The folder must sit directly in AddOns, not in a subfolder. - Start the game. At the character screen, click AddOns (bottom left) and tick “Load out of date AddOns”.
- Enable the ones you want and log in.
If an addon does nothing, it is almost always nested one folder too deep. The .toc file has to be one level inside Interface/AddOns/<AddonName>/.
The list, by job
- Quests and map: pfQuest. Shows quest objectives, turn-ins, and where things are. Questie is the alternative if you prefer it.
- Full UI replacement: pfUI. Unit frames, action bars, bags, and castbars in one package. If you only want action bars, Bongos or Bartender do that part alone.
- Threat (raid-critical): KTM (KLH Threat Meter). Everyone in a raid needs the same threat meter or DPS will pull off the tank. Install it before your first raid.
- Damage meter: Recap or a 1.12 DPS meter. Useful, not essential.
- Dungeon maps and loot: Atlas and AtlasLoot. Maps of every instance and what drops where.
- Auction house: Auctioneer or Aux. Aux is lighter and faster on old hardware.
- Dispel: Decursive, for healers who remove curses, poisons, and magic under pressure.
- Gear swaps: ItemRack or Outfitter, for swapping sets without dragging items.
- Macros: SuperMacro, which lifts the short macro length limit Vanilla ships with.
Start with pfQuest, a UI addon, and KTM before raids. Add the rest as you find you want them. If one will not load, say which addon.
